Little Things

As morning calls, alarm bells ring.
Dread would consume you, but not today
In hopes that you’d find something
To brighten your soul with memories that stay.
Routine’s mundane, some may say.
Yet you find yourself content
With a simple breakfast on the sunniest of day.
Now you know what “less is more” truly meant.
Walking the same cobblestone road
Familiarity breezes in dazzling warmth
As smiles meet in moments that showed
A company that shines in your humble hearth.
At last, you arrive at your cherished spot
Born with all the scratches you may have made
From scribbling doodles over its wooden plot
Over a desk that told many of those who stayed.
Little things, indeed they are.
But they are counted as blessings
That can take our hopes so far
As life still plays its humming strings.
