With a diverse range of senatorial candidates running for this year’s upcoming elections, it is essential for each citizen to be aware of these potential leaders who are soon to be the ones assisting in managing the livelihoods of each Filipino. As early as now, the School of the Holy Spirit of Quezon City aimed to encourage their students to become more politically aware and be familiarized with the electoral processes during election days by holding mock senatorial elections for the Senior High School department last March 14, 2025, for the Grade 11 students and March 18 for the Grade 12 students.
The mock elections were held in the Computer Laboratory of the Senior High School building, simulating two precincts—Precincts A and B— where the students and school personnel may enter to cast their votes. The voters were then assisted by student volunteers, acting as Board of Election Inspectors, IT Assistants, and Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting

After each election day, students and staff were interviewed about their experience during this educational event and how they prepared themselves beforehand. During the first day, the Grade 11 students shared that in preparation for this event, they were tasked to make campaign posters
for a candidate that was randomly assigned to them to be able to research and learn more about their programs and advocacies. Additionally, they expressed that this poster activity and mock election truly made them more knowledgeable about each candidate, knowing the importance of using their vote wisely.
The students also mentioned that it was an exciting yet pressuring experience for them to be able to cast their vote for the first time since through this, they are already able to practice their privilege to vote as young adolescents but they were also aware that the people they vote for in the future would soon represent the government in our country.
On the second day of the mock elections, the Grade 12 students had the opportunity to experience the voting process firsthand by casting their votes in the mock senatorial elections. When asked about their preparation, many shared that they took the time to research each candidate, carefully evaluating their platforms and advocacies. They treated the mock elections with the

same level of seriousness as a real one, ensuring that their votes reflected their values and vision for the country’s future. Reflecting on the experience, students also expressed how the mock elections reinforced the significance of voting as an essential civic duty. "It’s important to be aware of the candidates running for office and their platforms because our choices today shape the future of our country," one student shared. Aside from that, the staff members of our school also had the opportunity to participate and cast their votes. A faculty member highlighted the importance of this event, stating, "This experience will serve as a guide for them when they participate in actual elections."
