Camaraderie is the mutual trust and understanding you have with a person or group of people that strengthens relationships and bonds that may last forever.
After a three-year-long anticipation, the comeback of the SHSQC Intramurals happened last November 2023 wherein the whole student body showed their commitment to camaraderie amidst the many competitions they faced. The three teams, Alvero, Liwayway, and Hara Udaya, were named after historical women who have shaped history in order to give women the same opportunities as men. Not only did this event bring out school spirit and boost morale amongst us students, but it also set aflame a drive to be one with the community.
Only in these games were we able to see the hidden talents and passions of the students who could otherwise not express themselves during a regular academic school day. These games paved the way for students to engage in physical activities they found interesting and also improved their health. Intramurals continued with the major games like basketball, football, volleyball, and many more, finally ending with the highly awaited cheer dance and cheering competition.
What started as a few meetings among unfamiliar schoolmates slowly grew into gatherings that we students looked forward to. The intramurals itself lasted three days wherein minor and major events took place. The opening ceremony was the first instance where unity among the students was witnessed. During the flag-raising event, the school community let out their loudest cheers for all teams, not just their own. This was then followed by the educational games as well as the field games, highlighting the capabilities of SHSians to have wit and talent in physical activities.
On the last day of the Intramurals, most events were done and what was left was the awarding of the victories won.
Although many received a medal that symbolized their win, it is seen that the true victory attained during Intramurals were the bonds we made and the experiences that we now cherish.
